This makes it difficult to determine if the symptoms (associated with bipolar disorder) that are present to him or her are indeed signs of this mental illness. Meanwhile, it is very important to detect whether or not this person really has bipolar disorder to provide the right treatment.
Furthermore, the symptoms that could be clear indications of bipolar disorder can be related to other identifiable physical or psychological illness. This makes it more difficult to give treatment since the focus is to give relief to the existing physical pain; rather than identifying if the patient is suffering from any psychological problem. All parents love to watch their healthy and active kids play along. Bipolar Disorder is more commonly known as Manic Depression, a serious mental illness which can be treated. The likely symptoms can be radical changes in behaviour, energy, mood or recurring depressive episodes, thought patterns and mania. For children, the symptoms can occur whilst they are an infant or as a young child, and sometimes it does not come out till a person reaches adolescence when there will be a rapid change, or even until someone becomes an adult. Diagnosis in young children and treatment is available, although many studies have been carried out on this illness, professionals believe that there is still much to learn about Bipolar Disorder – what actually causes it as there are many theories – and there has been no medicine that can be said to be effective enough to cure it.

Scientists all over the world have categorized bipolar disorder into two classes; Mania and depression. This is the reason why the disorder is also referred to as a manic depression. Bipolar disorder is a disease of the brain and so is treated by a psychologist. People suffering from bipolar disorder are not in control of their emotions and experience extreme mood swings. This makes them very unpredictable and dealing with a person with bipolar disorder is very difficult.
A patient of bipolar disorder will be absolutely normal one minute and the next an eerie change will come over them. They may go into depression and go into a cocoon and stay there for a long time without interacting normally with people who try to communicate with them. Sometimes these patients will get so depressed that they will even contemplate suicide, many of them have been successful too. So care must be taken in dealing with a patient of bipolar disorder.
